Peachtree City MOBA tied Mississippi Brilla 1-1. In a game that MOBA controlled most of the night, they just could not finish. The non-conference game moves MOBA to 3-8-1 on the season.
Brilla was clearly the aggressor in the beginning of the match, as they had MOBA on their heels for the most of the first 11 minutes. MOBA was finally able to shift the field position and the momentum at the 12:23 mark. Iian Smith took a great shot on goal, but the Brilla goalkeeper made a great save. A few minutes later, Omar Jarun attempted a left footed scissor kick, but it sailed too high.
Casey Shultis got the scoring started for MOBA at the 22:43 mark, as he kicked a laser to give PTC a 1-0 lead. MOBA took a barrage of shots on goal during the first half. First it was Shultis, then it was Smith, as MOBA took twice as many shots as Team Brilla in the first half.
After a sluggish start, MOBA took over the first half and dominated field position and shots on goal. Then with one minute left in the first half, Newton Henry was able to dribble a shot pass goalkeeper Kyle Lancaster to make the score 1-1 at the half.
The momentum shifted in the second half, and Mississippi Brilla controlled the flow of the game for at least the first 15 minutes of the second half, before something strange happened. MOBA started making very uncharacteristic fumbles and missed kicks.
Even with the errors, MOBA still had a chance to win. Taku Mashingaidze took a laser shot deep in Brilla goal area, but their goalkeeper made a awesome save. Lancaster made a great save at the 87:05 mark and got the back out to Shultis to start a fast break. Shultis was fouled , but MOBA could not convert, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
MOBA will host the South Georgia Tormenta for the final home game July 13 at 7p.m. The gates open at 6pm.
